Antique Transylvanian embroidered panel from the Hungarian community of the Kalotaszeg region.
Embroidered in red cotton, slightly faded to a soft red on a home loomed cloth. I think the cloth is cotton, , cotton thread was bought from wholesalers and home loomed, fet, as in this case the thread was twisted as it was woven leading to a slightly wavy cloth ( in Hungarian it is known as fodor, or frilly cloth).
The fine lines of the embroidery, the cloth and the dense pattern indicate that this is an older piece
Laundered, in excellent condition for age, 3 darns, two at corners and one close to edge
