Vintage Transylvanian embroidered panel from the Kalotaszeg area of Transylvania.
180 x 49cm, embroidered on a home loomed cloth known as fodrasz or curly cloth as the thread is moistened and twisted as its woven
This embroidery is known as irasos or written embroidery it is (open chain stitch). The pattern was traditionally drawn by a writing woman and embroidered by another woman in the village
The panel has been darned in a few places, otherwise excellent condition
I always combine postage and refund any excess postage paid
